Lady Elliot is a coral cay located on the southern tip of Australia's iconic Great Barrier Reef, 80kms north-east of Bundaberg, nestled between K'Gari formally Fraser Island and Lady Musgrave Island. The Island is situated within a highly protected ’Green Zone’ of the Marine National Park and is a sanctuary for over 1,200 species of marine life. Lady Elliot Island is regarded as one of the best snorkelling and diving locations on the Great Barrier Reef and is renowned for its healthy coral reef and abundance of turtles, manta rays, reef sharks and the entire cast of ‘Finding Nemo’. There is so much to discover on Lady Elliot Island and there are plenty of complimentary activities on offer to help guests learn more about the Island and it’s unique history, flora, fauna and incredible marine life. Lady Elliot Island is an underwater haven for both snorkellers and divers. Snorkelling on the reef surrounding Lady Elliot island is easily accessible straight off the beaches or book on to one of the daily glass bottom boat/guided snorkel tours or snorkel safaris. Lady Elliot Island offers a diverse diving experience with 20 incredible dive sites around the island which are easily accessible by boat dives. There are turtles in the water all year around, Green and Loggerhead turtles' nest on Lady Elliot Island from November to March and hatchlings emerge between February and April. The peak Manta Ray season is May to August and Humpback whales migrate past the island from June to October. Lady Elliot Island is one of the most significant seabird breeding sites on the Great Barrier Reef and large numbers of seabirds frequent the island between October and April each year.
