2015 Convention - Victor Harbor, South Australia


The Australian Regional Tourism Network (ARTN) Conference was held in mid-October at Victor Harbour in South Australia and Nicky Young from the QICA Committee attended. Some of the topics discussed over the 2 1/2 day conference were:

The Sharing Economy; Issues in Regional Tourism; Best Practices in (1) Local Government and Tourism, (2) Regional Tourism Organisations and (3) Visitor Information Centres; Partnerships and; The Digital Age. Further information can be found at http://www.regionaltourism.com.au/Convention

On the day following the ARTN Conference Nicky Young attended the National Meeting of the Visitor Information Centre Network Steering Committee to give feedback and catch up on what other states are doing in the VIC arena. The Western Australia Tourism Council presented a document titled 'Value of Visitor Centres' which talked of the economic impact of VICs in WA along with the top 5 reasons to use VICs on your next trip; these included -
