Mt Barney National Park
National Parks Mount Barney
Scenic beauty and rugged country make Mt Barney National Park popular with bushwalkers.
Description
Mt Barney is South East Queensland’s second tallest mountain. It is a wild, rugged and challenging landscape, more suitable to the self-reliant and reasonably fit visitor with sound bush skills. Mt Barney is one of the more remote national parks and most of the trails are for experienced bush walkers only. The park has some of South East Queensland’s most spectacular sheer ridges that rise to meet tall lonely peaks. The eastern face is a sheer cliff of almost 300m, offering a mighty challenge for Queensland’s best rock climbers. Overnight camping for walkers only. Camping permit essential. Campers should expect rugged conditions.
