2011 Bookeasy - QICA Conference

Ipswich has been selected as the host for the 2011 QICA Conference.

The conference will be held from the 23rd to the 25th of February 2011, with the meet and greet on the evening of Tuesday the 22nd.

Ipswich, Queensland's oldest provincial city, is an alluring blend of heritage charm, metropolitan sophistication and expansive green spaces. Early colonial buildings stand proud in the city centre, lovingly restored Queenslanders perch on hills and quaint townships dot the surrounding countryside. Ipswich proudly preserves and still operates from many of its historical buildings and homes, with more than 6000 heritage-listed sites. Ipswich also has a range of charming townships within the western rural areas of the city, each with its own legitimate claims of historical significance.

Ipswich comprises an area of 1090 square kms and has a population of 155,000 people. Ipswich enjoys a subtropical climate and is a safe, friendly and multicultural city. Residents come from 115 different ethnic backgrounds, speaking 84 languages. Ipswich is an exciting place to live, work, invest and visit. Education plays an important role in the local economy with two universities and a wide choice of private and state government schools.

Ipswich offers all the modern facilities and attractions of a progressive city. Attractions include the Ipswich Art Gallery, the Workshops Rail Museum, steam trains, more than 500 parks, wineries, cafes, restaurants, cinemas and shopping centres. Ipswich hosts regular national and local festivals and events such as the Queensland Open Golf Championships, Ipswich Cup - the city's annual major horse race, drag racing's finest at the Winternationals held at Willowbank Raceway, V8 supercars at Queensland Raceway, Ipswich Festival and Ipswich Show.

Just 40 minutes west of Brisbane and an hour from the Gold Coast, Ipswich combines rich heritage with the energy of being the hub of today's growth region in South East Queensland.
