When arriving in Quilpie ensure your first stop is at the Visitor Information Centre, Museum and Gallery located on the main street. This accredited Visitor Information Centre offers a one-stop shop for travel information including maps, brochures and itineraries. Staffed by skilled and knowledgeable locals, the Quilpie Museum, Gallery and Visitor Information Centre can provide advice on the things to see, things to do and where to eat. Plus, free wi-fi access is available in air-conditioned comfort. Discuss with the friendly staff your travel plans and be sure to ask about their guided town tours operating each Monday and Wednesday from April to September. The interactive museum displays the rugged history of the early pioneers, and the Shire Gallery hosts an exhibition each month including travelling displays and works by local artists. Each exhibition has an official opening which everyone is welcome to attend. Nibbles and light refreshments are available on the night. The Centre has an adjoining Military History and Railway Museum, this should be your first stop when arriving in town! Open April to September from Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and Weekends 9am to 12pm. Open October to March from Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.
